My goal was to make a thread teapot inspired by the glow of hot metal and flames.

This thread teapot was inspired by the old style of “dazzle camouflage”, much more common in the military around the first World War. I chose to make a classic conical shape for the pot, similar to the Il Conico Kettle by Aldo Rossi. The lid completes the cone and is removable. The base is also in the same camouflage style.

Four quilts made for the Stitching Together History special exhibition at the Virginia Quilt Museum. Each quilt is 20 x 20 inches.

E Pluribus Unum The Art of the Quilt was an invitational quilt exhibition, curated by Linda M. Fiedler and Betty Blessin for Piedmont Arts in Martinsville, Virginia. For the most recent iteration, the 13th biennial, the theme was “Unity”.

These are not tame trees. This art quilt was inspired by Van Morrison’s song, “Moon Dance.” I imagined trees dancing in a shower of starlike leaves, as the moon circles them. What is the source of light?
