CDs are already outmoded media. They make a lovely medium for art.
Conjunction
On December 20, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn had a rare very close conjunction (captured just above my neighbors' chimney). I have loved looking at the night sky since I was a child, so I was eager to capture this event in an artwork.
The evening sky becomes darker toward the top of the piece, with more paint on each disc, so the lower ones refract more light – simulating the last glow of sunset. Jupiter and Saturn are stitched metallic fibers. The dark trees are stitched cotton threads. Stars are scratched into the paint.

Drunken CDs
Most CDs are silvery, but certain kinds are gold, blue, or violet. This wall art, inspired by the traditional Drunkard’s Path quilt block, uses purple discs, pieces of silver discs, and some I painted black. It’s laying on a cutting mat.
