This wall hanging incorporates some unusual materials. Hardware stores are as interesting to art quilters as are fabric shops. I thought it looked like clouds and air - one of the four ancient elements.

The process behind one of my very large wall hangings

The client wanted a very large wall hanging to cover the door and windows in cold weather, and also wanted the front of the hanging to portray a prairie landscape in the context of the vista from her home.

This was commissioned for the reception area of St Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. The panels are installed over glass-tiled niches behind the reception desk. The quilts' true colors are purples, greens, and golds.
