The Old Patent Office is the current home of the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and National Portrait Gallery (NPG). It has a long history going back to the early days of our nation’s capitol. My art quilt was made for the exhibition Inspired by The National Capital Area. Just kidding…there is no ocean 2.0. We just have ocean 1.0, with its growing seas of plastic trash. The fish find themselves in an unnatural place.

CDs are already outmoded media. They make a lovely medium for art.

A news photograph of a protester, carrying an open umbrella, running past a line of police shooting tear gas, was my visual inspiration for this quilt.
